The story behind Givers of Love
Share
During our honeymoon 15 years ago, we stayed in the friendliest cabin with gorgeous sunsets, called Aro'a Beachside Inn. The owners explained that Aro'a meant giver of love in the local dialect. Apparently, we decided then and there that if we were ever to have a girl, we would call her Aro'a. Fast forward six years; our beautiful Aro'a was born, and soon after, Givers of Love was also conceived!
Originally, the business was set up with the mission of encouraging generosity, connecting people with small businesses that offered beautiful and unique gift ideas. However, I soon took time off to be with our growing family and waited for the time to be right to pick up the reins again.
COVID then hit during the time I was carrying my second-born and it became clear that I had to resurrect Givers of Love. This time, while the core mission remained the same–spreading God's love through encouraging us to be vessels of love to our family and friends in an increasingly disconnected world–the method was shifting.
While I have always loved writing and painting, it has only been in the past decade that I've reversed the suppression of creativity from childhood, and I began to find joy in creating artworks to gift others that meant something. Not being the most proficient artist, I relied on words to articulate what the recipient needed to hear in the season they found themselves.
Givers of Love has since then become my vessel for creating art that has meaning. Pictures and words. Beauty with practicality. In the pipeline are a few more journals for children, couples and those over 60, a few digital downloads to keep things affordable, and also some collaborations, because connecting people is still what I love most.
Thanks for showing interest in the journey of Givers of Love at its start; it means a lot. May we go from strength to strength together!
